The Cauldron

Co-Founder

The Cauldron was founded in 2018 by Carlie Febo and Kate McBride, two feminist killjoys working hard to create community by elevating platonic intimacy, getting angry, and thinking critically about celebrating each other and ourselves. The Cauldron is a radical feminist social practice focusing on transformative experiences through intentional gathering, vulnerability, and fostering community.

For two years, they hosted monthly communal meals to book clubs to numerous citywide meet-ups and topic-specific workshops. They were hired to curate a wall of quotes at the entrance of the exhibition ‘Women Take The Floor’ at the Museum of Fine Art, Boston. Although events are not currently active, Kate and Carlie of The Cauldron continue to believe in what can happen when we consciously gather.

Creative Youth Development

M.A., Museum Education

Carlie has worked in Creative Youth Development programs around the city of Boston in organizations like ICA Teens, MassLEAP, and Urbano Project. She believes that out-of-school art-based programs give youth a seat at the table, empower them to learn from their histories, and guide them to challenge the future. Carlie has planned and implemented all types of teen events from year-long programs to small intimate gatherings to large-scale ‘Teen Nights’ and three-day conferences. Giving young people the tools to explore themselves through art has proven to leave lasting impacts on communities.
