VISUAL AND PERFORMANCE ART

In art school, Carlie began her journey of self exploration through photography and performance art. She began to turn inward and investigate how she came to be who she is through her camera. This visual investigation is still a large part of her practice today. The work touches on her relationship to food, to her upbringing, and to her own body. It often includes a touch of humor, and narratives of pleasure seeking and resistance.

MAKE ART AND CRY

Life partners Carlie and Anthony Febo formed this artist collective after their first collaboration where they made art and then literally cried.

Through facilitating intentional experiences and art-making they explore fear, healing, vulnerability, growth, and what it means to be fully heard and seen by someone else. Their practice includes performance art, hosting artist retreats, visual art, and workshop facilitation. As a collective, they create spaces that invite the viewers in. They encourage participants to peer into the window of Carlie and Febo’s sometimes messy life to then examine what it means to be human, to examine their own relationships, and to look into the mirror and examine themselves.
